i want everything balmain

i loooooooove balmain. i loooooove guiseppe zanotti's shoes for balmain. unfortunately i can't afford anything from their collection, so i just have to wait for the scraps that are leftover at a sale. luckily, these gems were still lingering at the barney's warehouse sale and i had to get my hands on them. who cares if they're a little tight, they will stretch, right?! at first i tried them on and thought meh, i could do without them, but then when i went back for them, they were gone! i had to have them! now i understand the meaning of you want what you can't have. i saw a lady trying them on, and then i began to hover. i was loitering in the shoe area, waiting for her to put the shoe down. as soon as i saw her dismiss them, i went over and asked if she was done. with a bit of hesitation, she claimed she was still thinking about them. LIES! i knew she didn't want them! she did it to spite me. so now it was ON! i had to get them in my hands. i hovered a bit longer, made a couple circles, and finally a pair was put back on the rack. i had to make a game time decision, and quickly swiped them off the racks and now they're mine! who knows what i will wear them with, i will work around the shoes and accessorize accordingly. i apologize for the rant, but i had to explain the saga that went into buying those shoes.

anywho, back to the point....i want everything balmain....they add a new twist to fashion. it might be looked at as odd at first, but shortly after they release their collection, EVERYONE starts copying their style. ripped jeans, ripped tees, army green everything (seen a lot in alexander wang clothing as well), buckles, the list goes on....

for now i will settle with my green canvas balmain booties =)

goyard...sigh....

i finally got my camera back, so what do i take a picture of? one of my most prized possessions...my goyard st louis gm tote. there's really nothing that special about it, besides the fact that the whole bag is hand painted and there's a little goyard envelope pouch attached to the strap. other than that, it's just a tote. but it is GORGEOUS. it is a million times better than the louis vuitton tote that everyone carries around. it's a bit ridiculous how much the tote costs, but you're really paying for exclusivitiy. hardly anyone knows the brand goyard. i was at the barney's warehouse sale when a lady approaced me and said "your goyard bag is beautiful." why yes it is! to most, its just a chevron printed canvas bag (actually no...they dont know what chevron is, it's just a printed canvas bag). To us fashion whores, it's a beautiful piece of art that only a few can appreciate.

review: nikon d5000

ok....so im no expert....i barely know how to use the damn thing....but it is effing INCREDIBLE! i was skeptical at first, having tried a canon rebel eos t2i and really liking it, but i have no regrets! this camera is worth every penny. when using the canon, i noticed the wide lcd screen which allowed me to see the quality of the pictures. the nikon has a smaller screen which makes it more difficult to see the depth of your photos, however, you're not taking pictures to look at on your camera! it's all about the quality once it's on your computer or when it's printed. i was absolutely amazed by the clarity of the photo on the computer. i can see every little detail of an object that i would never even notice with my own eyes. i love the versatility, you can use the camera as a regular point and shoot, or you can choose from the many different options/settings that the camera comes with. i cannot wait to take more pictures for this blog!

review: kiehls sunflower color preserving shampoo/recovery pak

i purchased this after reading rave reviews on belledujournewyorkcity.blogspot.com (i am such a sucker for anything she recommends). i am weary of kiehls shampoos because i have had bad experiences in the past. their products don't seem to lather very much and the shampoo feels like it is drying my hair out even more. i had to make a pit stop at the kiehls store to get a few samples before comitting to a full bottle. i was pleasantly surprised by the amount of lather, sure it's not as much as others, but then again it doesn't have the sulfates and parabens that creates that affect. my hair didn't feel as smooth as it did with the use of shu uemura shampoos (too expensive!), but then i realized that the purpose of a shampoo is to clean, not condition.

i went into kiehls last night to purchase the large bottle of the shampoo and had to decide between the daily conditioner or the recovery pak deep conditioner. i am quite pleased with my $3 aussie "3 minute miracle" conditioner (also recommended by belledujour) so i settled with the recovery pak. i was hesitant at first because i was afraid the product would be too heavy for my fine hair and weigh it down, but even after letting my hair air dry, which normally makes it look like straw, it felt lightweight, smooth, and shiny. best of all, i woke up this morning to the smell of peaches. so refreshing!

i will continue to use this product every other day and give an updated review in about a week. i'm in need of a good affordable shampoo so hopefully i will get some good results!

update: i LOOOOOOVE THIS. it makes my hair soooo shiny and soft. the light apricot smell also lingers in your hair even a day after washing it. i was noticing that my ends were starting to look like hay. they were so disgusting and getting tangled in my necklace. i even had to chop off a ball of hair because it was pointless trying to untangle the hay. i deep conditioned and immediately noticed a difference. i can actually brush through my hair! it even felt soft. it's a miracle! i will definitely be purchasing this item =)

review: kerastase cement thermique

this stuff is incredible. it's my long lost love. i have neglected it for a while now, but using it again has made me realize how big of an idiot i am for not using it everyday. because of my color treated hair and constant blow drying, my ends tend to look very dry and tangle easily. i discovered this product at my hair salon and was told that it is great for everyday heat protection from styling tools. after i shower, i pour a dime size amount of this cream into my hand and work it into my ends. using this after every shower has delayed the appearance of dry split ends, and has left my hair feeling light weight, shiny, and healthy. i have not found anything that works the same magic as this. i am almost through with my second tube of this and will definitely repurchase! it retails for about $34 and lasts 4-5 months.

clothes i love at the moment

from top to bottom: j brand "houlihan" cargos, the row scoop neck tee, wilfred blue/grey linen blazer, little moon quilted jacket

jbrand cargos: everybody needs a pair of these. i swear i have seen it on girls of all sizes and it has the most amazing slimming affect. not only that, but they are SOOOO SOFT. every time i wear them, i creepily stroke my leg because they just feel amazing. and it's not that fake/cheap soft when the exterior feels soft but the interior feels grainy and scratchy against your legs (am i the only person who has experienced that?). some may say they are overpriced, but i think they are worth every penny.

the row: the perfect tee. it seems absolutely ridiculous to pay $250 for a tee but this one was mismarked so i convinced myself i was getting a deal and splurged. it's considered ivory but i would say it's more off-white. i hate how delicate it is and how i have to hand wash it, but it feels great on and i wouldn't hesitate to buy another if i had the funds!

wilfred: it's soooo comfortable. we all remember the cream one i tried on in chicago which made me look like a marshmellow. i was obsessed with it because it looked great on sap, but i just couldn't get over how awkward it looked on me. thankfully aritzia had a sale and re-stocked their inventory. this blue/grey was an absolute winner and a great price! loves it.

wilfred little moon: i had issues with this piece at first because it looked like a baby's blankee, but it's so unique i just had to try it on. its so funny and marshmellow like but i loveeeee it. i love the detail of the lining and the cut of the jacket. sure, i may look silly in my silk/linen quilted blanket, but i am so drawn to how unique it is.

favorite lipstick swatches and thoughts

from left to right: chanel genial, yves saint laurent rouge volupte 1, tom ford blush nude, mac cremesheen gloss fashion scoop, mac cremesheen gloss richer, lusher

chanel genial: gorgeous matte lipstick but very pigmented. i mainly use it with a light pink gloss on top to avoid the geisha look. the swatch looks a bit magenta, but it does have a coral tone to it.

ysl rouge volupte: so lovely and creamy however it settles into my fine lines after an hour or so. i love the way it looks on its own because of its subtle shine.

tom ford blush nude: you know how i feel. its like butttaaaaaahhhh!!

mac cremesheen gloss: great consistency and nice wash of color. not too pigmented so it works great over lipsticks and is a lovely gloss on its own. my favorite is richer, lusher because it gives my lips a nice coral color without having to go bold with a coral lipstick.
